Drywall & Texturing in Santa Maria, CA

Drywall Repair in Santa Maria, CA

Drywall is one of the most popular building materials in California. It is found in residential homes, businesses, retail stores, warehouses, and just about every other form of structure people use and access on a day-to-day basis. Because of this, drywall repair and painting services are constantly needed.

Why is drywall such a popular material? Ultimately, it’s affordable, durable, insulative, and easier to install than materials like brick or stone. It eliminates the need to apply plaster separately and greatly speeds up your ability to enact repairs.

At Steve's Painting, we use a multifaceted process to ensure we sufficiently address drywall repair and painting needs in the right way.

Whether your issue is damage from children playing or even just accidental cracks from nail holes, we can repair your drywall with lightning speed.

  • 1. Stage One

The first stage of our drywall services is to fix the hole or missing section of drywall. For smaller holes, nicks, and deep dents, we apply a self-adhesive mesh patch to shore up panel strength. Then, we use joint compound to further strengthen the correction.

Larger holes often require complete replacement of a portion of the drywall; we cut out both the broken section and a few inches clearance on either side. From there, we can cut and fit in a new section. We fill the edges using joint mesh tape to strengthen the bond and reduce the risk of cracks.

Sometimes, the repair section occurs at the corner of a wall or along an edge; this is most common where two walls meet. We use edge metals and joint compound to reconnect the edges and eliminate any cracking from shifting during cold and warm weather.

  • 2. Stage Two

After the initial drywall repair service, we move on to the next step. First, we sand and even out the repaired section of wall.

Then, we apply a layer of drywall skim coat to seal in the surface. We then repeat this step two to three times. Why do we do this? It allows the wall to dry fully for up to 24 hours between each step.

The result is a flat, smooth wall with no imperfections or visible differences.

It might seem exhaustive to allow for so much time during your repair, but this is a critical step for the longevity of the surface.

Not only does it provide a better painting surface, but it also reduces the risk for your drywall to crack or break at weak points. This is important, especially in California.

  • 3. Stage Three

The third stage in every repair is to apply texture to the wall. We use a highly-skilled exact-match technique to identify and match the texture on each repair section with the pre-existing texture on other surrounding walls.

Texture matching requires a high amount of skill and experience; it can be extremely difficult for the average DIYer to get it “right.”

That’s why we encourage all home and business owners in Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, and surrounding areas to contact us for help.

Our workers have extensive experience in drywall repair and painting, and know how to achieve the most flawless results despite the complexity of the job.

Results are virtually undetectable – even under close inspection.

  • 4. Final Stage

The final steps of our drywall services including priming the surface using durable, long-lasting Sherwin Williams ProBlock Primer to effectively seal the surface.

Then, we add two coats of paint in your chosen color or style.

Want to maintain a cohesive look? We can match the current look and shade of surrounding walls.

Ready for a change? Ask us about combining repair with whole-room painting to rejuvenate and lift the appearance of your home from the inside out.

We also provide full-scale complete remodeling services to address your interior and exterior needs at the same time – this is perfect for people seeking a little bit of curb appeal.

What our clients say

Chris B.
I have recently had the entire outside of my house painted by Steve and it looks amazing! Steve gave me a reasonable price to do the job but did indicate the price was based upon the condition of the wood being in good shape, as the house is 25 years old. He first power washed the entire house, stucco and wood. Unfortunately, there were many wood pieces that were in bad shape. While he said I could leave them as is, and he could just paint them, he indicated they would eventually need to be replaced. I decided to have the bad wood pieces replaced and Steve was able to do all the replacements on site! No need to hire an additional carpenter. He did an outstanding job replacing the wood and you can not tell when the replacements were done. He sanded all the wood surfaces so they were smooth and filled some cracks in the stucco, prior to painting. The finished job looks great and I have received many compliments from my neighbors. I highly recommend Steve.

We decided to have Steve paint the project and oh boy it was a month long ordeal. This happened after my mom passed, we had already agreed it had to be done, even though money was tight, especially finding bad wood that needed to be replaced almost like renovation. After sanding parts of the house he showed us areas that he made recommendations to fix or replace, I was surprised that he was a craftsman and he was able to repair wood columns and decorative wood braces, and I got him to build a wood awning in the back that make the awning like it's part of the house. By the time he was done this house looked better than when it was brand new. If you get a chance to talk to Steve you'll find that he is knowledgeable and I guarantee you will love his work.

We have used Steve's painting a few times over the years with satisfactory results. This last time we contracted to have the entire exterior of the house painted. Steve's prep work was excellent and the finish result was astounding. Our home looks brand new. We could have found a lower quote but Steve is worth every penny.
