  • How will the paint be applied?

This depends entirely on the job at hand and the best way to achieve the desired finish. Each method has its benefits, for example:

Brush – Painting with a brush is often necessary when coating areas such as textured walls. We often use paintbrushes to finish areas that are difficult to reach such as corners or in repainting doors & frames

Roll – For smooth surfaces, using a paint roller provides an even coating that results in a flawless and attractive finish. It is also beneficial to use a Paint roller when Painting heavily textured areas on exterior paint applications and areas such as Painting wood siding.

Spray – Spray Painting may be required to coat surfaces such as exterior stucco or when Painting eaves on a residential Painting project. Also, when a high-gloss, blemish-free finish is the goal, spray Painting is the ideal method of application. This is commonly the go to method in Painting doors and frames and cabinet finishes on new construction and residential re Paint jobs.

  • I have received several estimates from different painting contractors and there seems to be a wide variance in the price. Why is that?

There are many factors to be considered when reviewing a Painting estimate. Unlike Steve's Painting, many new or inexperienced companies may not be licensed, bonded, and insured. Often, they sub out work to inexperienced, lower rate Painters that may not be trained in safety measures or on proper techniques for surface preparation. Another factor is the quality of the products that they are using. Some paints may be lower in cost but will fade out over a shorter period. It is important to consider these issues when hiring your Painting contractor.

  • Is the Steve's Painting price I have been quoted the final price or are there any hidden charges?

The price you have been quoted is the price you will pay. Steve's Painting does not believe in hiding anything from you. However, nobody will be able to determine the condition of hidden elements of your home. For example, if there are any rotted or damaged framing members concealed in your walls, Steve's Painting does not simply cover up and conceal these items from you. You will be given the opportunity to personally inspect these areas and you will be given a price for repairs before you ever incur any charges. There will never be any surprise charges that you have not been made aware of and have not authorized.

  • The stucco on my home's exterior looks faded. What can I do to make it look new again?

Stucco, like many surfaces, can fade – especially when it’s exposed to direct sunlight. But, making it look new again is easy. Quality Painting can revive the look of your stucco, giving your home a fresh, new appearance.

  • What causes wood rot?

Water penetration and mildew cause wood rot and it can only be repaired by using an Epoxy wood repair kit. Completely rotten wood will be replaced.

  • What if I want to completely change the color of my stucco?

No problem. Just like any surface (for example, wood siding), stucco can be repainted to suit your color preferences. If you want to achieve a darker shade than your original stucco color, and the surface is in good shape, quality paint can probably provide the coverage you need in one coat. Painting a lighter shade over a darker tone may require two coats. When selecting a new color, don’t forget to coordinate with other exterior colors on your home such as shingles and trim.

  • What kind of preparation do you do prior to applying the paint?

Our exterior Painting service includes professional preparation of the surface such as pressure washing to remove any surface contaminants such as mildew, dirt, debris etc. If there is any rotten wood it will be replaced. Small repairs in wood substrates will be filled. Stucco repairs will also be performed matching the texture of the existing substrate. This is how we guarantee a finish that looks great and will last for many years. Our interior Painting service includes professional preparation of all surfaces to be painted. This is to include drywall repairs textured to match surrounding substrate. Sanding and cleaning surfaces such as wood to achieve best adhesion. We also are very meticulous about covering areas and surfaces NOT to be painted. This all takes place prior to the beginning of Paint application on your project.

  • What should I look for in a painting contractor?

Your Painting project’s success will be largely determined by choosing the right contractor. Here is some information to guide you through the process of choosing the right contractor and ensure that your Painting experience is a positive one. The following section lists important qualifications you should look for when hiring a contractor.

    Technical Expertise

Look for a Painting contractor who specializes in the type of project you are interested in. They will understand important issues, such as the material specifications and the scheduling required to finish the job within your timetable and can give you a more reliable estimate than a Painting company who is not familiar with your type of project. A professional Painting contractor should also be able to tell you what products and materials they would likely use for your project. They should also offer you several options when selecting products, materials, and techniques.

    Customer Service & Communication

It is very important for a Painting contractor to listen to, and understand your needs and wants. While discussing your Painting project, they should show enthusiasm for your ideas and suggest ways to make them work within your budget. A contractor should also alleviate any concerns you may have about your Painting project. Ask the contractor for examples of how he has solved Painting challenges that are like yours. Be sure your Painting contractor maintains an open line of communication whether it be via text, phone, or email. You will have questions and concerns during your project, and you will want to have them addressed as soon as possible. Communication is a key component in a successful customer/contractor relationship. Look for a contractor who places an emphasis on customer service. He should be friendly, professional, and attentive to your ideas. When you check a Painting contractor’s references ask questions concerning the contractor’s customer service. Previous customers can tell you if the contractor offers the customer service you deserve.
